SHEBANA DEVI MANGOLD is a Berlin (Germany) based Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi artist.

Indian classical dancer Germany - Shebana Devi Mangold She began her journey in naatya at the tender age of seven by training in the Pandanallur style of Bharatanatyam under Guru Rajyashree Ramesh (Rajyashree Ramesh Academy for Performing Arts & Dance Theatre Productions, Berlin, Germany).

It was only a few months later when Shebana Devi enchanted her audience - under the able guidance of her Guru - with solo, group and dance theatre performances, that her talent and inner bond with this special art form was shown.

After nine years of intensive training and participation in various group productions of the academy Shebana Devi performed her Bharatanatyam Arangetram (solo stage debut and completion of the basic training) in 2001 with great success. Renowned carnatic musicians S. V. Balakrishna - mridangam, Vasudha Balakrishna - vocal and Thyagaraja Raghavarman - Flute accompanied her. Highly recognized Bharatanatyam teacher Savithri Jagannatha Rao travelled all the way from Chennai (India) to witness the debut: „No one could have done it better than Shebana!“
Since then she had been performing regularly as a member of the Rasika Dance Ensembles and teaching students of all levels in the academy.

From 2004 to 2007 Shebana Devi received intensive training in the Kalakshetra style of Bharatanatyam from Guru Savithri Jagannatha Rao in Chennai.

In May 2011, Shebana Devi completed her three year Diploma course under the international renowned gurus The Dhananjayans, in their institute Bharata Kalanjali (Chennai) with great success. During that time she performed with her gurus, in their group as well as solo. Shebana Devi also has been training in Carnatic music and nattuvangam (the art of rhythm in naatya) under the eminent guru Bhagavatulu Seetharama Sarma (Founder and Director of Kalapeetham).

Although Shebana Devi fell in love with Kuchipudi as a small child, it was in 2009 when she started her training under the gifted and much sought after Kuchipudi dancer, choreographer and teacher Jaikishore Mosalikanti, and his wife, Padmavani Mosalikanti.

After three years of exploring the beauty, intricacy and depth of Kuchipudi, Shebana Devi performed her Rangapravesam (solo stage debut and completion of the basic training) under Guru Jaikishore Mosalikanti on April 1st, 2012 with magnificent success in Chennai, India. A group of outstanding carnatic musicians (G. Srikanth – Vocal, G. V. Guru Bharadwaaj – Mridangam, T. Bhavani Prasad – Veena and B. Muthukumar – Flute) accompanied this special event. The conclusion of Chiefguest Bhagavatulu Seetarama Sarma's Speech read: „This is not an Arangetram (Debut), this is a professional Kuchipudi performance!“
